For a while now, we’ve known that the kids at DiploTot’s school were getting ready for the school’s Christmas show. We had to get a Santa hat and a few other miscellaneous items in preparation and we figured Jingle Bells was going to be one of the songs given that DiploTot started busting out with the lyrics one day.
We had to be at the school at around 6:00, which is already starting to push the limits of a usually tired DiploTot, but here in Mexico, the kids roll on a much later schedule, so we figured we would make the best of it, despite the temptation to skip out. Here we are with one of the last smiles of the night.
DiploTot had seemed excited about the show, but once we got inside she apparently lost that excitement and didn’t really want to be apart from us. She soldiered on though, and managed to make the best of the two songs the kids had prepared.
The hand-in-the-mouth thing seems to only make an appearance when she is upset, so we were pleased that she made it through without crying. I think if she wouldn’t have been so tired, she might have been more happy to participate. As soon as the show wrapped up we loaded a very maxed out DiploTot into the car to get home for bed. These types of shows are cute and fun, but obviously geared towards the parents, as opposed to the kids, some of whom were having fun and others who weren’t. I guess we’ll see how she manages next Christmas with another year under her belt.
